Announcing Two New Clothing Lines at Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk
May 2, 2018 (Cavendish, PEI) – Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk will be adding two Maritime based clothing retailers to their list of tenants for 2018, including Designs by Lisa Drader-Murphy and Islander Life Apparel Co.
Canadian clothing designer Lisa Drader-Murphy will be relocating to Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk and the new space will be double in size from her previous location in Cavendish. Lisa Drader-Murphy has four other high end boutiques across Canada, including three locations in Nova Scotia and one location in Toronto, Ontario. Her business has garnered national and international buzz with coverage including Entertainment Tonight, ELLE Canada, Flare, and CNN, as well as numerous others. As one of the last vertical fashion houses in the country, all the garments are designed and manufactured in Canada.
“We’ve been in Cavendish for three successful seasons, and we are excited for the opportunity to expand,” says Lisa Drader-Murphy. “We just recently expanded our studio in Nova Scotia, so we are really on a growth track right now. The larger location allows us to create a shopping experience for our guests, especially in this new retail landscape.”
Islander Life Apparel Co. will also be opening a retail location at Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk, the first ever for the line.
Islander Life Apparel Co. is a line of resortwear and fun souvenirs created by Island Beach Company. The Islander Life brand has been available at Island Beach Company stores previously, but this will be the first store dedicated to the line.
Island Beach Company family of stores began in the summer of 1988, in North River PEI. The t-shirt shop was located in a log building, formerly used as a small country church. They have since grown to 20 locations across the Maritimes and Ottawa, with a focus on the souvenir market and almost all of the designs created in house.
“Islander Life” is an exciting new line for us. The new line will be playing up on the pride that Islanders feel about their province and remind everyone how easy it is to live with the salt in the air and sand in your hair,” says Dana Willis, with Island Beach Company.
“We are pleased to welcome Designs by Lisa Drader-Murphy and Islander Life Apparel Co. to Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk,” says Matthew Jelley, president of Maritime Fun Group -PEI, that operates the boardwalk. “Two different clothing shops, both maritime-based, are the perfect addition to round out an already fantastic lineup of attractions, dining and shopping options.”
Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk is completing construction on a recent expansion, including adding a new licensed restaurant and six new or expanding vendors.
